23 Years of Immigration Experience

With offices in New York and Florida, the Law Offices of Pearline Blackwood have been supporting immigrants to the United States since 1999.

Ms. Blackwood's Jamaican heritage and Caribbean roots allows her to relate to the deepest struggles of those seeking a fresh start in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. These are some of the things clients say about her:

During your initial consultation, you will discuss your case one-on-one with an experienced attorney who has been in Immigration & Nationality Law practice for over 23 years. You should prepare for your consult by writing down any important immigration concerns or issues that you would like to discuss and have copies of documents ready.

If your consultation is in person, you should bring your passport, I-94 info and birth/marriage certificate, and any other important documents that pertain to your case. If your consultation is by Zoom, or phone, you may upload those documents on the scheduling calendar, or above.

“The planet is for everyone;

borders are for no one. It’s all about freedom.”

USA IMMIGRATION GUIDE

Learn more about the process managed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Understanding Immigration

The United States of America is considered the Land of the Free, but there have been significant changes to the legal system governing residency in the country since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. This means that there are more legal barriers to the path to citizenship than ever before.

We have addressed some of the most common topics below.

What is a "Green Card"?

A “green card,” issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), provides proof of lawful permanent resident status, with authorization to live and work anywhere in the United States. Most green cards must be renewed every 10 years, but conditional green cards based on marriage or investment must be replaced after the first 2 years.

How long will it take?

Each case processes according to its unique factors. One case may appear similar to another case, but processing may be longer or shorter depending on what is being requested of the petitioner.

What is the USCIS?

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security that administers the country's naturalization and immigration system.

Need Credit Repair Services?

People of color, those from low-income households, and IMMIGRANTS across the U.S. may face increased challenges when it comes to building and maintaining good credit. This, in turn, makes borrowing money more difficult and more expensive — leading to issues with debt, difficulty securing housing and employment, and holding many underserved communities back from building wealth.
